Sacred Sexuality

In my experience with sex, I have come to understand it as an intimate energetic exchange between individuals (or Spirits) where energies intermingle, merge, and have the potential to transform into something entirely new. It provides a way for us to deeply connect and communicate with others via energetic transfers. And since our focus and attention is [usually] heightened during sexual and sensual activities, our intentions and manifestations may be amplified in the process as well.

Type of ExchangeConditionEnergetic EffectsDescription
Synergistically mutualWhen intentions and desires are aligned in Love.(โˆž,โˆž)Multiplicative effect. Limitless creative potential. Love is amplified and can be transmuted into raw Life energy.
MutualWhen intentions and desires are aligned but superficial.(+,+)Additive effect. All parties may โ€˜benefitโ€™ from pleasurable gratification, but the resulting energy is usually shallow and fleeting.
ParasiticWhen intentions and desires are not aligned and/or predatory towards another.(+,-)Subtractive effect. One benefits from the interaction while the other is depleted or harmed in some way.

Depending on the nature, state, and intent of the individuals, these energetic exchanges can be synergistically mutual, mutual, or parasitic (see Table 1 above). These descriptions and effects mostly hold true for autosexual acts (i.e. self-pleasure or masturbation) as well, where the intent we have when engaging โ€“ either of Self-Love or solely self-gratification โ€“ will determine the energetic outcomes. Autosexual acts donโ€™t really fall in the parasitic category, but it can still result in spiritual decay when fueled by uncontrollable urges and/or twisted desires.

I will admit, I never understood the appeal of sex until I met and fell in love with my first [and only] partner. I was an [unknowingly] asexual sophomore in college and still Mormon when we met, so sex was nowhere near my to-do list. But as I fell deeper in love, my desire to connect with my partner on a deeper level also grew. Years later, I finally understand why my desire for sex could only be ignited by deep feelings of Love, and why despite the religious indoctrination that demonized pre-marital sex, I felt no shame or guilt after consciously engaging for the first time.

After a year of dating around and countless one-night stands, I woke up to the lies propagated by popular media and dating apps about sex being a precursor to love. This is not to say that love cannot be found through sexual activities, but this is the exception rather than the norm. In truth, sex is a means for generating more Love from a mutual input of Love. And through this sacred act of Lovemaking, we can unlock our full Divine Creator abilities as we transmute Love into the pure and infinite potential that is Life energy. So even though sex is meant to be a highly pleasurable act (as pleasure serves the function of heightening positive energies), when taken out of the context of Love we risk causing Spiritual harm to ourselves or to others in the process.

Although sex is sensual by nature, sensuality is not inherently sexual. Sensuality stems from the act of feeling, or sensing, oneโ€™s body or oneโ€™s Being within the body. It is a means for connecting to and honoring the physical vessels gifted to us by Madre Gaia.

I revel in my sensuality by walking around and dancing bare, with no shirt on. I let me chest free so that there are no barriers between my heart and the Universe โ€“ so that I can feel the forces of Nature with every ounce of my breath and each bounce of my breast. I shake my ass so that my soul may rest in the joyous feeling of my bootyโ€™s jiggle fest. And with each whine of the waist, I give thanks to Mother Earth for this body that withstands the test of time.

I feel, play, and Love on myself to merge with the Divine energy of the Universe through the inner-G (G = God[dess]) of my Higher Self. As I penetrate my own walls, I generate and harness the powerful energies of Divine Self-Love. I make Love to Myself and use this sacred energy to help my body and Soul heal from traumas of the past and from woes of the present. And when I Love on myself in this way, it is as if the Universe itself is Loving on me as Me.
